Yoga + Spin = Happiness?

After almost a year of pushing myself on the treadmill or forcing myself to go to cardio boot camp classes, I made a decision.  I have been working out with the goal of burning calories and losing weight.  And sometimes it works.  But most of the time, it's miserable

I know how she feels...

So from now on (special occasions exempt), I will be exercising with the goal of being happy and healthy.  Have you ever noticed that you're more likely to go to the gym when you're going to a class that you enjoy?  Before I started at Equinox, I used to go to a studio called Pure Barre, which was a mix of yoga, pilates and ballet which seriously toned your tush, abs and thighs. I loved it.  I went five times a week.  But it was too expensive and not enough cardio (and I'm most certainly not one of those girls who can motivate herself to go for a run...)

If you live near a studio, you must try it...

At the gym, I now have both cardio and stregnth classes at my disposal.  Now it's just a matter of finding the right mix.  What classes are exciting and fun and motivating?  Which ones do you come out of feeling strong and happy?

At this point, spinning and yoga are at the top of my list.  They're on opposite sides of the exercise spectrum, but each class is different enough that they won't get old.

I'm definitely not good enough to do this,
but doesn't it look cool and relaxing(ish?)??

What are your favorite gym classes or work outs?  I would love to hear any suggestions on how to spice it up! Pin It

  1. I have to try that barre method class. Everyone loves it. The spin makes my hoo-hoo hurt! I'm just saying. :)

  2. I couldn't agree with you more. We should all go to the gym with the goal of being happy and healthy not to lose weight. I think if I start on that mindset I'll feel a lot better as I attempt to get back to my pre-pregnancy body! Ha.

I'm a new follower and just wanted to say hi!

    Enjoy your weekend.

  7. Hi I am a new follower from Following Friday! I love your post and your blog. I REALLY need to get my behind back in the gym or at least out the front door - I always work out better when I am outside. I take my weights, step and mats to the back yard and pray that no one sees me. I am more inspired to work out when I am in the fresh air I guess.
If you get a second, please follow me back. You can find my Social Parade and Friday Follow post below. I also have lots of giveaways - current and upcoming.

  8. i am totally with you on yoga and spin!! my two favorite work outs! unfortunately i'm not a member at a gym, so right now it's strictly yoga (awesome studio right down the street, less than a minute ride on the moped, ya!!)

Honestly, I've always wanted a lazy dog but the way she came along, it was almost like it was meant to be...and now we've had her for a month! Be prepared for little sleep though the first 1/2 month or so...My baby still can't sleep through the night, and she'll have to be let out to pee every several hours. Let me know if you need anything else. :) Thanks for stopping by and following. I'm now following you back. Have a great rest of the weekend!
